Two teams of five players were drawn to play a combination of mixed doubles, men's doubles and men's singles. "Team A" consisted of Millie Goode, Zak Los, George Hobson, Charlie Laverack and Thomas Dyson (school captain), with "Team B" being Sue Sumner (former staff), Patrick Dare (current staff), Tom Hitchenor, James Bisson and Trevor Loten. The match was predictably close, with team B just edging it 5-4.
There was an opportunity to reminisce afterwards over light refreshments at the pavilion where Trevor was presented with a surprise retirement gift from Zak, George, Louis, Tom and James! Trevor retires in the summer after 35 years as a teacher at the school and this was his last OP tennis event as a member of the school staff – no doubt he will be back next year on top form in his capacity as an OP!
Thank you to everyone for playing, and hopefully the Edmund-Loten mixed doubles competition will return in a more "normal" OP Sumer Reunion next year.
L-R: Charlie Laverack (08-19), Thomas Dyson, James Bisson (04-12), Zak Los (02-13), Sue Sumner, Trevor Loten, Millie Goode (17-19), George Hobson (03-14), Tom Hitchenor (11-13), Patrick Dare.
