This year’s OP Hockey and Netball fixtures delivered a fantastic morning of sport, with competitive matches and great teamwork on display throughout.
The morning began with a fast‑paced and fiercely contested netball match, played in superb spirit from start to finish. The pace of play across the court was impressive, and Pock’s ball distribution remained one of their key strengths, allowing them to move fluidly through the phases and create some excellent attacking opportunities.
Despite their best efforts, the School found themselves up against a consistent and dangerous shooting duo in OP sisters Ruby and Jasmine Remblance, who maintained accuracy throughout and ultimately proved the deciding factor in the match. The OPs’ teamwork and defensive pressure were equally strong and composed, making for an enjoyable contest between the two sides. Whilst both teams showed great energy and commitment, it was the OPs who pulled ahead with a strong final quarter to win the fixture 26-36.
The momentum carried straight through into the OP hockey match which saw a mixed OP team taking on the Pocklington girls’ and boys’ sides each playing a half against the visitors. Spectators were treated to skilful play, determined defending, and end‑to‑end action, in what proved to be an exciting match, and with both sides showing great determination, the scoreline remained tight throughout. However, in a nail‑biting finish, the OPs managed to sneak a late goal in the final quarter to win 2-3, rounding off an entertaining morning of action‑packed sport.
Thank you to all the OPs who made it back for the matches, to the school sides for providing excellent opposition, and to the staff and OP committee members for their support of the event.
