Under overcast skies, with rain threatening throughout the day, Pocklington took on old rivals Hymers in the annual OP v OH golf match at Ganton Golf Club.

Pocklington arrived looking to build on last year’s success, while the Hymers team, captained by Old Hymerian Jonathan Leafe, were keen to reclaim the trophy. With five pairs competing, the fixture proved to be a much closer contest than the previous year's encounter, with both teams producing some excellent golf.

After a series of closely fought matches, Pocklington once again emerged victorious, winning by three matches to two and securing the much-coveted Friendship trophy for a second consecutive year.

Pocklington captain, David Stephenson commented: “I would like to thank all members of the Pocklington team for giving up their time to play in the fixture and to say what a fantastic result we achieved. Well done!! Also, a big thank you to Ganton Golf Club for hosting the match and providing a superb venue, and to the Hymers team for their sportsmanship and golfing camaraderie."

Both schools are already looking forward to next year's event, which is likely to take place in June 2027. It is hoped the fixture can be expanded to six pairs, giving a couple more players the opportunity to take part in this prestigious contest.
