After their last reunion at the OP London Dinner two years ago, the group decided to head north this time to visit their alma mater in Pocklington. Fourteen OPs signed up for the event which included a school tour, drinks, and food in the Gruggen Room, followed by a trip into town to revisit some of their old haunts.

As the OPs began to arrive, the noise levels rose with the flow of conversations and the recounting of countless stories and experiences. Once the group was assembled, Rachel Dare (OP Liaison Officer) and Sheena McNamee (External Relations Director) led a tour of the School with the OPs reminiscing about their school days and marvelling at the many changes and developments they saw as they walked through the corridors.

Following the tour, everyone returned to the Gruggen Room for food, where Paul Freeman-Hacker, Head of Catering & Hospitality, provided a fabulous range of curries as a light supper. A display of archive materials from the 1992 era sparked further discussion and memories of their time at Pocklington School. The group also enjoyed talking to the Headmaster, Toby Seth, and their former maths teacher, Trevor Loten (70-80) who called in to see them.

As the event drew to a close, the OPs gathered outside the front of the School for a group photo before the light faded, then continued their evening at the pubs in town.

Former Head Girl, Catherine Ellis (née Chambers, 90-92) said: “Thank you very much for our tour of the School and the fabulous food and drinks. We felt very welcome. The School looks incredible, and it was exciting to see how it has changed...”

Romney Walton (90-92), organiser for the group, said “I wanted to send you a huge thank you from everyone! It was a wonderful night, and I think we all left around midnight with plans to meet up each year! Thank you so much.”

If any OPs would be interested in organising a similar reunion event at school for their year group, please contact the OP office
