Winning the toss, captain Jack Bolam (96-05) elected to bat first, sending out Harry Jackson (24) and Tom Taylor (1) to open. After some tight bowling from Harvey Laverack and Henry Rodmell, aided by a fantastic catch by Oliver Rook, the Pixi's found themselves in a spot of bother at 44-3. Charlie Lambert (01-08) made 32 before being dismissed on the brink of lunch. Skipper Bolam (46) and Matthew Atkinson (85-83) ( (37*) then put on a stand of 87, before declaring on 200. Harvey Laverack (13-0-28-2) was the pick of the bowlers for the School.
Will Atkinson and Tom Burdett opened the bowling, restricting the School to just nine runs from the first eight overs. Tom Burdett then made the breakthrough, dismissing school skipper Toby Williamson. At tea, the game was evenly poised, with the School needing 150 runs with nine wickets in hand. Harvey Laverack (33) and Oliver Rook (25) built a good foundation for the School to kick on from. However, some tight spin bowling from George Baty (12-2-17-3) and Steve Burdett (11-4-10-3) put the Pixi's in the driving seat. Despite late-order resistance from Harry Snelling (16) and George Moorhouse (31), the Pixi's picked up the final wicket with minutes to spare, bowling the School out for 159.
Thanks go out to the School for hosting a great game with two great causes at the heart of it.
