Pocklington School was thrilled to welcome back Old Pocklingtonian James Sweeting (81-88), founder of Lincoln & York Coffee, to speak to A Level Geography students about the world of coffee recently.
James gave an engaging talk on coffee as a global commodity, covering everything from where it is grown and how it is harvested, to the science behind roasting. Students explored the differences between Arabica and Robusta coffee beans, the impact of climate and altitude, changes in consumer preferences, as well as considering the stakeholders and processes in the complex journey of coffee from bean to cup.
Rebecca Brennan, Head of Geography said: “It was a fantastic opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-life insights into the coffee industry. Huge thanks to James for sharing his knowledge and experience.”
