All the players deserve a “thank you” for battling hard in very difficult conditions, caused by the strong and gusty wind!
Both groups of four pairs had a clear winner, but the runner-up positions were incredibly close; in group A, Ed Sweeting (84-94) & Rachel Clark (née Sweeting, 91-96) edged out Mohamed Gamal & Annie Marr by one game, whilst in group B James Sweeting (81-88) & Zoe Wakeham tied with Jonathan Longthorp & Sally Farnsworth but went through by virtue of their head-to-head victory.
In the semi-finals, group B winners Trevor (70-80) & Emma Loten (01-14) defeated Ed & Rachel, whilst group A winners Tom Sowersby (05-12) & Frankie Marsh (06-13) recovered from 2-0 down to defeat James & Zoe. As conditions became even more difficult, Trevor & Emma eventually won an entertaining final, 6-1, to claim the Edmund-Loten Inspire trophy.
The pairs were:
Rachel Clark (née Sweeting) & Ed Sweeting, Emma Loten & Trevor Loten, Francesca Marsh & Tom Sowersby, Katie Dewhirst & Joe Dewhirst, Sally Farnsworth & Jonathon Longthorp, Emma Stewart (16-19) & Ed Dare (11-18), Zoe Wakeham & James Sweeting, Annie Marr & Mohamed Gamal.
