Pocklington 1st XI v OPs 40 overs

OPs 220 - 4 (H Bayston 56, H Kay 64no) Pock 1st XI 223 - 4 (O Rook 85, H Laverack 49)

Pocklington 1st XI won by 6 wickets

24 hours in cricket is a long time!

For the school’s 1st XI, having suffered at the hands of Trent College on Saturday, it is nice when you can get "back on the bike" and put in a performance so soon afterwards and come away with a strong victory.

Against a formidable OP XI with many recent leavers, the school put on a disciplined performance with the ball. Henry Bayston was once again the "thorn" in the side for the school XI and he had excellent support from Henry Kay with a solid 64 not out.

A very positive declaration from the OPs made for an excellent chase.

James Sweeting, in only his second appearance for the 1st XI made a composed 25 and with Harvey Laverack continuing his fine form, they laid the foundation for captain Ollie Rook to put the final touches to it with a fine 85.

Well done to all who played and umpired for what was a fabulous afternoon of cricket.

Playing for the OPs were:

Charlie Lambert (01-08), Lewis Wilson (14-16), Will Wraith (08-16), Henry Bayston (11-17), Jonty Goddard (11-19), Harry Matthews (15-20), Henry Kay (13-21), Ollie Kettle (14-21), Ben Maycock (14-21), Harry Holland (15-22), Harry Jackson (15-22).

Umpires: David Byas, Henry Perham.
