Pocklington School is delighted that HRH The Duke of York KG (Prince Andrew) will be visiting the school on Thursday 8 May for the CCF’s Biennial Inspection. He will be accompanied by The Hon.Mrs.Susan Cunliffe-Lister, Lord Lieutenant of the East Riding of Yorkshire, who is also a patron of Pocklington 500. Air Commodore Warren James CBE will be the inspecting officer.
As part of the visit programme the school is planning for all pupils to be able to see Prince Andrew along with the spectacle of a parade and CCF march past with a military band (The Heavy Cavalry and Cambrai Band). Prince Andrew, accompanied by the Head Boy and Head Girl, has also kindly agreed to plant the 500th tree, the last in the school’s scheme to plant 500 trees for the quincentenary. He will then spend time observing the CCF training programme in action.
Unfortunately, the school is unable to invite parents and visitors to attend the event. All school gates will be closed by the police and school staff from 10.30am and will reopen at 3.20pm.
