There has been an excellent response to the Quincentenary Birthday Weekend events with all three events now full to capacity! The Headmaster’s Reception sold out very quickly closely followed by the York Black Tie Dinner. Following a meeting at York Minster last Friday, Deputy Headmaster, Andrew Dawes made the following announcement:
Thank you to all who have replied to our invitation to attend the service. The Minster is now at full capacity and sadly we are unable to accept any further bookings.
All pupils and staff and many current parents are of course attending, but it is wonderful to have so many OPs, former parents, and friends of the school returning to Yorkshire from every part of the globe. It will be a memorable gathering and opportunity to renew friendships.
A reminder that doors open from 9.30am with pre-service music being played by Mr Tom Taylor and The Band of The Yorkshire Regiment.
During the service, a collection will be taken which will be divided between the following: BLESMA (supporting injured soldiers); Riding for the Disabled; African Impact; York Minster.
If you would still like to take part in the quincentenary celebrations, please consider the ‘Pockfest 500’ weekend on 28 and 29 June, or the Quincentenary Finale dinner in London on 21 November. All these events are booking up quickly, so please send in your booking form if you are thinking of coming before they sell out.
