Networking drinks in the Undercroft at ‘Live’ theatre from 5.30pm followed by dinner at Caffe Vivo
This year’s Newcastle dinner had the added feature of an informal drinks networking session to start the evening off. A number of OPs in their final year at university came along to chat informally to representatives from the OP committee and other OPs who were further on in their career about their career plans and how the OP network might be able to help. One immediate outcome of the evening was being able to link up an environmental management student starting a project on coral reefs with another OP who specialises in coral reef conservation in Indonesia as part of her job! Newly elected committee member, Steven Kyffin (1970-1977), gave a few words of welcome and explained one of the aims of the Old Pocklingtonian Association in supporting younger OPs and sixth form pupils starting out in their careers. The party then moved next door to Caffe Vivo for dinner, with everyone getting up between courses to move around the table and socialise. A great evening was had by all and thank you to everyone who supported the event.
