Super fit personal trainer Lucy Harrison (02-09) has shown how ‘flipping mad’ she is by undertaking a gruelling charity challenge with a tractor tyre in record time.
The 24-year-old, of Pudsey, attempted to flip a tractor tyre weighing in at 75kg – 1,000 times around a city centre car park, a feat she believes has never been done before.
Despite being at peak fitness, Lucy, who works at Motive8 North fitness studio, said flipping the tyre 10 times is hard work, let alone 1,000. She said: “I’d been thinking of a way to raise money for charity and wanted to do something a bit different.
“So I thought I’d set myself a challenge of flipping tyres. I wanted to do something that was going to take a lot of training, so decided on 1,000.
“People said ‘You’re absolutely insane’. I knew it was going to be one of the toughest things I had ever done.
“It was very much trial and error. I had no idea how long it would take me. I had thought around 10 hours but I finished in only 3 hours 37minutes so I even surprised myself.”
Lucy did the challenge on Saturday 20 September 2014 in Leeds to raise money for the Take One Moment charity, set up in memory of her cousin Tom Atkinson, from near Driffield, who was killed as a passenger in a road accident abroad when he was just 19.
