Lucinda recently competed in the Badminton Grassroots Championships with her horse Alfie or Alfie the Superstar as he is affectionately known. Badminton Horse Trials is hailed as the biggest and toughest 3-day event in the world so for the Grassroots Championships to be held there during the same week was an amazing experience for the pair who finished 11thout of 65 competitors.
After months of training throughout the winter in all three disciplines (showjumping, dressage and cross country), Lucinda and Alfie were well prepared for the competition and put in some excellent performances. They finished an impressive 11th overall although it was so very nearly 3rd place for the duo who agonisingly knocked down the third bar of a triple-bar fence during the showjumping event. Lucinda’s aim for the event was to finish in the top 20 so she was very pleased with the result and it is a fantastic achievement. Her ambition now is to move Alfie up the grades this year with the ultimate aim of completing a 1* (the first level of international competition) event.
