3rd Annual Pocklingtonian Golf Day
Another good day was had by all the teams who took part in this year’s annual golf tournament at The Oaks Golf Club on Friday 9 May 2014. The Nutt family looked after us all very well and contradictory to the forecast the weather stayed dry for the day. As last year S G Petch kindly sponsored a hole-in-one competition for the main prize of a Fiat 500 car on the 7th hole, but despite 1 very close attempt from Tim Millward the car was again returned to the garage at the end of the day for another year! Fifteen teams of four players of all ages and abilities took part in the golf day this year, including OPs, parents as well as a staff team and a current pupil, all battling it out for the President’s Cup.
Here are the results:
1st Prize and The Tom Nash President’s Cup Winners 2014: Pocklington Staff – Martin Butcher, David Galloway, Trevor Loten, Fraser Davis (current pupil)
2nd Prize: Opta Sports – Mike Strong (66-76), David Morgan (68-75), Andrew Cox, Nathan Gregson
3rd Prize: The Oaks – Ed Nutt (95-06), Jack Bolam (95-05), Andrew Welton (96-06), Struan McDougall (95-06)
Nearest the pin: Tim Millward
Nearest the pin in two: Fraser Davis (Current pupil)
Longest drive: Joe Butcher (94-06)
Thank you to the Nutt family for their hospitality at The Oaks Golf club and to Jill Atkinson (Governor) who baked an enormous amount of cakes for the halfway house.
