OP Alexandra Dariescu (2001-2003) has been invited to appear with Vasily Petrenko and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in Shostakovich Piano Concerto No 2 at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall in July. She would be delighted if OPs were able to come to this or any of her other upcoming performances listed below so please do get in touch via the OP Office if you are planning to go.
In addition to her concerts, Alexandra has recently secured a contract with Champs Hill Records to record a Trilogy of Preludes to include the Chopin and Dutilleux Complete Preludes. The recording is due to be released in June so do look out for it.
Alexandra has also been featured on BBC Radio 3 playing Emily Howard’s ‘Mesmerism’ for piano and chamber orchestra, which she world-premiered in 2011. The piece has since won the ‘Making Music Award’ at the BASCA in 2012. Following the UK premiere of Dinu Lipatti’s ‘Concertino in Classical Style’ for piano and chamber orchestra, which she gave last year, she was asked to write a feature article on the composer by ‘The Pianist’ magazine in Hong Kong.
